St. Maximilian Kolbe Sterling Silver Medal

St. Maximilian Kolbe was born in Poland on January 8th, 1894. Our Blessed Mother appeared to Kolbe when he was 12 years old and offered him the crowns or purity and martyrdom. He accepted both. 

In 1918, Kolbe was ordained a priest. Kolbe spent much of his life promoting Mary throughout Poland and even further into Japan and India where he started a few monasteries. He started the Militia Immaculata, (The Army of the Immaculate One) to help convert poor sinners, especially the Freemasons.

During World War II in Poland, Kolbe used his monastery as a safe haven for over 2,000 Jews and as a hospital for those in need.  Kolbe was eventually taken prisoner and ended up in the Nazi concentration camp called Auschwitz. There he gave his life to save another man who had a family. Kolbe was starved for 2 weeks before he was put to death by lethal injection. Kolbe died on August 14, 1941. He is known as the patron saint of drug addicts, prisoners, families, and the pro-life movement.
