Easter is a time of joy. Jesus has risen from the dead and opened heaven to us!

Some people struggle to embrace this truth because they’ve experienced misfortunes, such as a job loss or the death of a loved one.

No matter what you’re going through, here are some tips to keep joy alive this Easter season.

Observe the Entire Easter Season

Just like Christmas, Easter isn’t just one day. It runs for 50 days, ending with the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

Yet many stores clear out their holiday decorations the day after Easter. Why cut the celebration short when there are still 49 days to go?

Consider leaving some of your Easter decorations up. Meditate on Christ’s resurrection and its meaning for you each of these 50 days. Attend daily Mass when possible and pay attention to the readings. Most of the Scripture passages focus on the unshakeable hope we have in the Resurrected Christ.

Pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary

The Resurrection is the first Glorious Mystery, but the other four Mysteries flow from it. For example, Our Lady’s Assumption into heaven was only possible because Christ conquered sin and death.

While it’s fine to pray the Joyful, Sorrowful and Luminous Mysteries during Easter, consider only saying the Glorious Mysteries to keep the spirit of the season alive.

Get Outside

Spring is, in a sense, a symbol of the Resurrection. Nature “dies” in winter and is reborn in spring. Spending time outside can reinforce the joyful spirit of the Easter season.

God has made a beautiful world for us to enjoy. Go explore it!

May the risen Christ bless you and your loved ones during this holy season.
