In December 1531, a poor indigenous man named Juan Diego was walking near Tepeyac Hill, just outside Mexico City. As he passed, he saw a vision of a young woman surrounded by light, who identified herself as the Virgin Mary. She asked Juan Diego to go to the bishop and request the construction of a church on the site in her honor. Juan Diego, shared the vision with the bishop, but the request was met with doubt. The Virgin Mary then appeared to him again, urging him to return and insist on her request. To prove her divine message, she instructed Juan Diego to gather roses, which were out of season, from the top of the hill.
When Juan Diego presented the roses to the bishop, an image of the Virgin Mary was miraculously imprinted on his tilma (cloak), an event that convinced the bishop and the people of the authenticity of the vision. The church was built, and the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe quickly became a symbol of faith and unity, especially among the indigenous people of Mexico. The Virgin of Guadalupe is revered as a powerful protector, and her appearance is seen as a bridge between indigenous culture and Catholicism. Today, her image remains one of the most beloved and venerated in the Catholic world. Our Lady of Guadalupe's feast day is December 12th.

I know this is not the prescribed way to wear this. I have done this my whole life. Subtle way for me to show my faith in an open collar shirt. It’s a tight wrap to get the second loop. This never leaves my neck. I shower daily. I swim 30 minutes daily and I’m just a boy who’s known to be rough. Not one failed stitch. Does not curl. No color transfer from felt to other clothes. Perfect design and robust strength.

Hey there. I am a Catholic priest serving in a parish in CT. I wear a scapular at all times 24/7. I even wear it in the shower. These scapulars are very well made. They don't fall apart. When you place a medal in the front pocket it actually helps to keep the scapular in place so that it doesnt come up close to the neck. Exceptionally well-made, the merino wool is comfortable and doesn't trigger itching. I was concerned about the size of the standard scapular, but it's actually more comfortable and stays in place better than a smaller one. I love the pockets for my medals. I have one in front and two medals in the back, which helps keep the scapular in place. Wonderful scapular, can't recommend it highly enough.
This is my second scapular; the only reason I got a second was I gave the first away (otherwise, I don't think there was an end in sight for it, short of losing it - they're that well made).
